George Akume Declares Tinubu's Record "Unmatched," Igniting Political Debate

George Akume has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has recorded achievements unmatched in Nigeria’s recent history, urging members of the City Boy Movement to intensify efforts to communicate what he described as the government’s landmark accomplishments across the country. The Secretary to the Government of the Federation argued that despite inheriting significant economic challenges, the administration has delivered major reforms and infrastructure projects under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

George Akume Defends Tinubu’s Performance

Receiving members of the City Boy Movement led by its Director-General, Oluwatosin Shoga, in Abuja, George Akume said the administration has completed long-abandoned road projects, advanced infrastructure development across the six geopolitical zones and implemented economic reforms aimed at stabilising the country’s finances. He cited improvements in foreign reserves, ongoing investments in roads, education, electricity and water infrastructure as evidence of what he described as purposeful leadership.

George Akume also urged supporters of the administration to engage directly with communities by presenting what he called factual information about government programmes. According to him, effective grassroots communication is essential to ensuring that citizens understand the objectives and outcomes of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Government’s Claims Meet Broader Public Debate

The Tinubu administration has consistently highlighted economic reforms, infrastructure investments and efforts to improve public finances as key achievements since assuming office. Government officials argue that measures such as fiscal reforms, ongoing transport projects and renewed investments in strategic sectors are laying the foundation for long-term economic growth.

George Akume’s assessment reflects the government’s position, but many of the administration’s economic policies—including the removal of fuel subsidies, foreign exchange reforms and rising living costs—continue to generate vigorous public debate. While supporters credit the reforms with improving macroeconomic indicators, critics argue that many Nigerians are still grappling with inflation, higher transportation costs and reduced purchasing power. The long-term success of these reforms remains a subject of political and economic discussion.

As political mobilisation gathers momentum nationwide, George Akume has challenged supporters to make the government’s case directly to the electorate. Whether the administration’s achievements resonate broadly with Nigerians is likely to remain a central issue in the country’s evolving political landscape. OGM News Nigeria will continue monitoring developments surrounding the Renewed Hope Agenda and the national conversation it continues to generate.
