ADC Predicts APC Could Crack After INEC Timetable Judgment

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned that the pending judgment concerning the electoral timetable released by Independent National Electoral Commission may trigger major defections from the ruling All Progressives Congress, deepening political tensions ahead of future elections.

The opposition party claimed that growing dissatisfaction already exists within the APC and that the final court ruling could worsen internal disagreements among party stakeholders, aspirants, and influential political figures.

ADC leaders suggested that the expected judgment may reshape political calculations across several states and potentially force some politicians to seek alternative platforms.

INEC Timetable

African Democratic Congress argued that the legal dispute surrounding the INEC timetable has become a major source of anxiety within political circles because of its potential impact on party primaries, campaign preparations, and candidate positioning.

According to the party, politicians affected directly or indirectly by any alteration to the electoral timetable may react strongly if they believe their ambitions or strategic advantages are threatened. ADC officials claimed that tensions within the APC could escalate quickly under such conditions, particularly in states where internal rivalries are already intense.
Political analysts note that election timetables in Nigeria often carry enormous political significance because they influence coalition-building, delegate mobilization, and negotiations among party leaders. Court judgments affecting electoral schedules can therefore alter political strategies nationwide within a short period.

APC Tensions

African Democratic Congress further claimed that the APC has continued facing unresolved internal disputes involving candidate selection processes, leadership struggles, and competing political interests in different parts of the country.

The opposition party suggested that an unfavorable outcome from the court judgment may encourage frustrated politicians within the APC to defect in search of more stable political opportunities elsewhere. ADC leaders also hinted that opposition parties are closely monitoring developments and may attempt to attract dissatisfied APC members if divisions deepen further.

Observers say defections and political realignments are common features of Nigeria’s political environment, especially as election seasons approach and competition for party tickets intensifies. Some analysts believe the ADC’s comments may also reflect broader efforts by opposition parties to capitalize on any perceived instability inside the ruling APC.

For now, political attention remains fixed on the expected court ruling and its possible consequences for Nigeria’s evolving political landscape. OGM News Nigeria understands that consultations among party leaders, aspirants, and stakeholders are continuing behind the scenes as uncertainty surrounding the INEC timetable case continues generating fresh political calculations nationwide.
