First lady Oluremi Tinubu has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the nation’s security agencies are intensifying efforts to combat terrorism, kidnapping and other security threats across the country. Speaking during a courtesy visit by Qatar’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, the First Lady reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to restoring peace while advocating stronger diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and Qatar.
She stated that although insecurity remains one of Nigeria’s most pressing challenges, the Federal Government continues to strengthen coordinated operations against criminal groups. The First Lady Oluremi Tinubu also highlighted tourism, investment and international cooperation as important drivers of economic growth, saying Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and natural attractions offer enormous opportunities for job creation and national development.

Oluremi Tinubu said President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working closely with security agencies to confront terrorism, kidnapping and other violent crimes threatening lives and livelihoods. She emphasized that sustained efforts are being made to improve national security while building confidence among citizens and international partners.
The First Lady further described Nigeria as a country blessed with diverse cultures, unique cuisines, breathtaking landscapes and hospitable people. She encouraged young Nigerians to embrace the nation’s tourism potential, noting that promoting local attractions would help diversify the economy, create employment opportunities and project a more positive image of the country to the rest of the world.

During the meeting, Qatar’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Hassan Al-Hail, commended Nigerians for their warmth, resilience and hospitality. He praised the country’s favourable weather and natural beauty while proposing deeper cooperation between both nations in aviation and tourism. The ambassador suggested increasing flight connections between Doha, Abuja and Lagos to strengthen business, tourism and cultural exchanges.
He also urged Nigerians to reject cyberbullying and the spread of misinformation, warning that false narratives circulated online can damage the country’s international reputation and discourage foreign investment and tourism. His remarks underscored the importance of responsible digital engagement in shaping how Nigeria is perceived globally.
The meeting comes as Nigeria and Qatar continue expanding bilateral cooperation in key sectors, including aviation, investment, education, tourism and security. Recent diplomatic engagements between both countries have reflected a shared commitment to strengthening economic and strategic partnerships for mutual benefit.
