Osun 2026: ADC Denies Endorsing Any Governorship Candidate

Osun 2026: ADC Denies Endorsing Any Governorship Candidate

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formally denied endorsing any aspirant for the 2026 Osun State governorship election. The clarification came on Wednesday through a statement issued in Abuja by the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

The party distanced itself from a series of viral videos and social media posts alleging that the ADC had already settled for a preferred candidate. Abdullahi described the claims as false, misleading, and contrary to the party’s established democratic procedures. He urgedAfrican Democratic Congress members and the general public to disregard the circulating materials, noting that no official endorsement has been made.

According to the spokesman, the party remains focused on ensuring that every aspirant is given a fair opportunity under transparent and credible internal processes.

ADC Reaffirms Commitment to Internal Democracy

In his statement, Abdullahi explained that the ADC had already released and widely publicised its timetable for the conduct of primaries ahead of the 2026 governorship election. He emphasised that the schedule provides a clear roadmap for aspirants and stakeholders in preparation for choosing the party’s flag bearer.

He further stressed that all aspirants must strictly adhere to the guidelines outlined in the timetable, adding that such compliance was necessary to uphold the integrity of the primary election. “The ADC remains committed to the highest standards of internal democracy, anchored on a free, fair, and transparent electoral process,” he noted.

The African Democratic Congress reiterated that any decision regarding the emergence of its candidate will emanate solely from a duly conducted primary, not from unofficial or speculative online content.

ADC for Caution and Responsible Communication

The African Democratic Congress also appealed to party supporters and political actors to exercise caution in sharing unverified information that could mislead the public or cause unnecessary tension within the political space. Abdullahi stated that the party will continue to communicate officially through authorised channels to prevent confusion.

He added that the circulation of false endorsements undermines public trust and distracts from the party’s ongoing preparations for the governorship primaries. The spokesman encouraged members of the public to rely on credible sources for updates as the election season approaches.
