FG Bring Learner Identification Number (LIN), Plan to Cancel Common Entrance for Nigeria Schools

Federal Government (FG) don drop one fresh idea wey dem call Learner Identification Number (LIN), to take follow children school journey from primary school go reach where dem go end. According to Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, every pikin go get im own special number, no matter where e start or continue school.

Dem say this LIN go help government monitor how students dey move from one class to another. If pikin suppose don reach JSS1 but e no show, government go quickly know say something don miss somewhere. Na so dem wan take catch dropout matter before e turn national headache.

Truth be say, dropout rate don too high, and government don finally talk say “enough is enough.” With this LIN system, dem believe say no student go just disappear like ghost again without trace.

Dropout Rate Don Too Much, FG Don Worry

Minister Alausa no hide him mind at all. Him talk say from over 23 million pupils wey dey more than 50,000 public primary schools, na only about 3 million dey enter junior secondary school for public schools. Omo, the gap wide like Third Mainland Bridge!

He explain say even private schools no fit carry that remaining students because space no dey enough. This one mean say many children just stop school halfway, either because of money, access, or other wahala wey we no even see.

To solve this gbege, FG don join hand with state governments to build more schools and increase space. Dem wan make sure say every child wey wan learn get where to sit down open book, no be to dey roam street dey press phone upandan.

Common Entrance Go Soon Rest, CA Go Take Over

Another big gbege wey FG announce be say dem wan gradually cancel Common Entrance exam. Instead, dem wan use Continuous Assessment (CA) to judge students from primary one reach primary six.

This new system mean say no more “last-minute reading and prayer” before exam. Your everyday performance go count, and your record go follow you anywhere you transfer go. So if you dey dull since primary one, e go show — no hiding place again!

Minister still talk say dem dey plan bring back school feeding programme to ginger more children enter school. This time, dem wan move am go Ministry of Education so dem fit manage am better. As Nigerians dey talk am jokingly, “if food dey school, children no go hear ‘holiday’ again!”
