“I Have a Daughter Now, Get a Stunt Double” — Kunle Remi Abandons Movie Stunts After Becoming a Father

Nollywood actor Kunle Remi has revealed that becoming a father has changed the way he approaches risky movie scenes, saying he no longer wants to personally perform dangerous stunts now that he has a daughter.

The actor explained that fatherhood has apparently introduced a new clause into his action-movie contract: if the scene looks like something that could send him to the hospital, somebody else should handle it.

Fatherhood Has Changed the Action Hero

Kunle Remi, known for taking on demanding roles on screen, said becoming a father has made him more conscious about his safety.

According to the actor, having a daughter has given him an additional reason to avoid unnecessary risks. Rather than proving that he can jump, crash, fight or perform other dangerous sequences himself, he now prefers filmmakers to bring in a professional stunt double.

From “I Can Do It” to “Please Call the Stunt Double”

Before fatherhood, an action scene might have been an opportunity for an actor to show his physical skills. But for Kunle Remi, the equation appears to have changed: the paycheck may be for the movie, but the priority is making sure he returns home safely to his daughter.

His decision has also highlighted the reality behind action-packed Nollywood productions, where stunt performers can help actors execute dangerous sequences while reducing the risks involved.

At this stage, Kunle Remi seems to have discovered the most powerful character development of all — fatherhood. The actor may still be ready for action on screen, but when the director says “jump,” he now appears more interested in asking, “Where is my stunt double?”

As Nollywood continues to produce more demanding productions, fans will be watching to see how the actor balances fatherhood with the action roles that made audiences admire his performances.
