APC Dismisses Crisis Claims, Denies Mass Resignations in Enugu

The Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly rejected reports alleging internal discord and mass defections within its ranks, describing the claims as fabricated and misleading. The party also dismissed assertions that delegates who attended its recent national convention were denied stipends, insisting that such narratives were the handiwork of mischief-makers seeking to undermine its growing influence.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the State Publicity Secretary, Uche Obute, the party maintained that there was no discontent among delegates or party faithful. According to the statement, the APC remains united and focused on strengthening its structures in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

APC Leadership Rejects “False Narrative”

The APC described the reports of internal crisis as “concocted stories” aimed at distracting the party from its strategic objectives. It stressed that there was no agitation among delegates regarding welfare issues, including claims of unpaid stipends, which it categorically denied.

According to Obute, the allegations were part of a broader attempt to sow discord within the party and weaken its momentum in Enugu State. He urged members and the general public to disregard the claims, noting that the party leadership remains cohesive and committed to its political agenda.

The statement further emphasized that the APC leadership is focused on consolidating its base and expanding its reach, particularly as the political landscape begins to shift ahead of the next electoral cycle.

Claims of Strengthened Political Structure

Addressing concerns over alleged resignations linked to marginalisation, the party insisted that its internal structure has, in fact, become stronger. It attributed this to the leadership influence of Peter Mbah, whom it described as fostering inclusivity and unity within the party.

The APC claimed that its presence in Enugu has significantly expanded, asserting that members across various political levels—including the National Assembly, State Assembly, and all 17 Local Government Areas—are aligned with the party. This, it said, underscores its transformation into a dominant political force in the state.

The party highlighted its inclusive approach by citing key figures from different blocs, including Oby Ajih and Ben Nwoye, as evidence that both longstanding members and new entrants are well represented within its leadership structure.

APC Call for Unity and Focus Ahead of 2027

Reaffirming its unity under the state chairman, Martin Chukwunweike, the APC urged party members to remain focused and avoid being distracted by what it termed “sponsored misinformation.”

The party expressed confidence in its trajectory, stating that no amount of false reporting would derail its commitment to building a formidable political base in Enugu State. It reiterated its determination to secure significant electoral victories in the 2027 general elections.

In conclusion, the APC called on the public to verify information from credible sources and to remain cautious of narratives designed to create unnecessary tension within the political space.
