Sultan Calls For United Front As Insecurity Worsens In Northern Nigeria

The Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar has called on people across Northern Nigeria to unite against Insecurity, warning that banditry and terrorism continue to threaten lives, livelihoods and peaceful coexistence. He urged communities to put aside differences and work together to confront criminal groups.

According to the Sultan, criminals do not discriminate based on tribe, religion or social status. He stressed that only collective action involving traditional rulers, religious leaders, security agencies and local communities can effectively reduce the activities of bandits and terrorists.

Insecurity Requires Collective Action

The Sultan said the fight against Insecurity cannot be left to security agencies alone. He encouraged residents to support lawful security efforts by sharing credible information and promoting peace within their communities.

He also emphasized that unity among citizens is essential because criminals often exploit divisions to expand their operations. Community cooperation, he noted, can help improve early warning systems and strengthen local resilience.

Insecurity Remains A National Challenge

Security analysts have consistently observed that tackling banditry and terrorism requires a combination of effective law enforcement, intelligence gathering, community engagement and socio-economic development. Traditional and religious leaders are also seen as important voices in promoting peace and discouraging violence.

Meanwhile, social media users don add small cruise to the serious discussion. Some joke say bandits no dey ask whether person be chairman or caretaker before attacking, while others say unity no be just slogan but something wey communities need to practice every day.

As security challenges continue in different parts of the country, the Sultan’s appeal serves as a reminder that defeating Insecurity will require cooperation, vigilance and sustained commitment from both government and citizens. OGM News Pidgin will continue to monitor developments on the issue.
