Popular Nollywood actor Daniel Etim-Effiong has opened up about how he handles romantic scenes in movies, especially when it comes to on-screen kissing. According to the actor, every kiss scene he performs begins with a prayer — a practice rooted in respect, boundaries, and professionalism.
Speaking in a recent interview, Daniel explained that sharing such intimate scenes with co-stars requires spiritual and emotional preparation. “Before every kiss scene, I say a short prayer,” he revealed. “It’s a way of setting boundaries and ensuring that I’m not crossing lines that could disrespect my marriage or my faith.”
The actor, who is known for his calm and respectful demeanor, added that prayer helps him separate his personal life from his professional duties. “It reminds me that I’m acting — not living out personal emotions. Once the director says cut, I leave that moment on set,” he said.

Daniel Etim-Effiong emphasized that his decision to pray before romantic scenes stems from his deep commitment to family values and faith. He explained that while acting is his craft, his marriage and moral beliefs remain his foundation.
“For me, prayer is not about being overly spiritual — it’s about staying grounded,” he said. “You can be a professional actor and still have clear boundaries. It helps me maintain peace of mind and avoid emotional confusion on set.”
Daniel further revealed that his wife understands the nature of his job and supports his approach. “My wife knows I take these things seriously. When you honor God and your spouse even in your work, everything falls into place,” he added.

The actor also used the opportunity to advise younger actors and filmmakers in Nollywood to approach intimate scenes with maturity and respect. He stressed that professionalism should always come before excitement or pressure from directors and fans.
“Don’t just do things because everyone is doing them,” Daniel advised. “Know your values, know your boundaries. If prayer or personal discipline keeps you focused, don’t be ashamed of it.”
He concluded by reminding actors that Nollywood is growing globally, and professionalism is what will sustain the industry. “The world is watching us now. How we conduct ourselves behind the scenes matters just as much as what we show on screen,” Daniel said.
