Senator Omo-Agege Welcomes Governor Oborevwori, Delta PDP Leaders to APC

Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State and Deputy President of the 9th Senate, has warmly welcomed His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside prominent leaders and members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), into the APC. This significant realignment marks a turning point in Delta State politics, signaling the widening appeal of the APC as the party of choice for progressive governance.

Describing the move as “historic,” Senator Omo-Agege praised the decision of Governor Oborevwori and his supporters to join APC, noting that it underscores the growing success of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. According to him, the agenda has effectively rekindled citizens’ belief in the possibility of a more prosperous and united Nigeria. “Today, we witness the triumph of hope over despair,” he said, adding that the APC is now stronger and better positioned to deliver meaningful development in Delta State.

Prudence and Foresight in Managing the Transition

Senator Omo-Agege assured party members and stakeholders that the APC leadership, in collaboration with the Progressive Governors Forum and national party organs, is handling the integration of the new entrants with careful deliberation. He emphasized that potential issues arising from the defection are being addressed with prudence, foresight, and an unwavering commitment to the best interests of both the party and Delta State.

“The leadership of our party is fully committed to managing this development in a manner that promotes inclusivity and unity,” Omo-Agege stated. He urged all stakeholders to look beyond personal interests and prioritize the collective future of the party and the state. The senator reaffirmed that the spirit of reconciliation, accommodation, and cooperation would guide the entire process, ensuring that all members—old and new—feel valued and respected.

Embracing Unity for Delta’s Progress Says Omo Agege

Calling for unity among APC members across all levels, Senator Omo-Agege stressed that this development should be viewed as an opportunity to forge a stronger, more vibrant political force in Delta State. He appealed to all LGA and Ward Chairmen, their executives, party faithful, and supporters to embrace the new members with open arms and a spirit of brotherhood.

“In this renewed spirit of brotherhood in Delta APC, I urge everyone to rise above past differences and work together for the progress of our dear state,” he said. Senator Omo-Agege emphasized that only through unity and shared commitment could the party build a brighter future for Delta State, unlocking its vast economic and human potential for the benefit of all citizens.

Grand Reception Planned in Asaba

To mark the historic entry of Governor Oborevwori and other PDP leaders into the APC, Senator Omo-Agege announced that a grand reception will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, in Asaba, the Delta State capital. He called on all APC members, supporters, and the general public to turn out en masse to celebrate this significant milestone.

The event, he noted, will not only serve as a platform to welcome the new members but also demonstrate the APC’s growing strength and unity ahead of future electoral contests. “This is a time to celebrate, to show the world that Delta APC is united, formidable, and ready to drive transformational change,” he said, encouraging all members to come with enthusiasm and a renewed sense of purpose.

Renewed Commitment to Progressive Governance

Concluding his statement, Senator Omo-Agege reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to delivering progressive governance that will uplift the lives of Delta State’s citizens. He expressed optimism that the convergence of political forces within the APC would fast-track the realization of a more prosperous, secure, and united Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s visionary leadership.

Senator Omo-Agege also extended his profound gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Chairman of the APC, and the entire National Working Committee for their unwavering support and efforts in making this political realignment possible. “We are on the path to greatness,” he declared. “Together, we will build a stronger Delta State and a better Nigeria.”
