Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure after inspecting two major road projects in Abuja. Speaking with journalists after touring the construction sites, Wike said the projects remain central to improving connectivity, easing traffic congestion and supporting economic growth across the nation’s capital.
The inspection covered the ongoing construction of the Arterial Road N16, stretching from Ring Road II to Ring Road III and linking Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana, as well as the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba Road, which connects communities to the Abuja–Kaduna Highway. The projects are among several infrastructure initiatives being undertaken by the FCT Administration to modernize Abuja’s transportation network.

Nyesom Wike used the inspection to assess the pace and quality of work while engaging contractors and project officials on the progress achieved so far. Addressing journalists, he reiterated that the FCT Administration remains determined to complete strategic projects within approved timelines, stressing that infrastructure development is essential to improving the quality of life for residents.
The minister noted that the Arterial Road N16 is expected to enhance movement between rapidly developing districts such as Jahi, Gwarimpa and Karsana, reducing travel time and opening new opportunities for residential and commercial expansion. Similarly, the Tunga Madaki–Zuba Road is designed to improve access to communities along the Abuja–Kaduna corridor, an important transportation route linking the capital with northern Nigeria.
Wike has consistently maintained that road construction and urban renewal remain top priorities of the FCT Administration, arguing that improved infrastructure is necessary to sustain Abuja’s growth as Nigeria’s capital city.

However, they also emphasize that the long-term success of infrastructure projects depends on timely delivery, quality construction and consistent maintenance after completion.
