Na Fine City, But HIV Figures Dey Ask Serious Question

According to the report, Nigeria record 102,025 new Human Immunodeficiency Virus infections across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory during 2025. Lagos lead with 10,430 new infections, while Rivers and Kano follow closely behind. Other states like Akwa Ibom, Taraba, Benue and Anambra also record thousands of fresh cases, showing say the challenge no dey limited to one region alone.

The figures no mean say Lagos get the highest percentage of people living with HIV, because Lagos also get one of the biggest populations in the country. Even so, health experts say the numbers still deserve serious attention because every new infection represent another person wey go need lifelong care, treatment and support.

Human Immunodeficiency Virus Don Open Attendance Register, Everybody Shock

Additional health information show say Nigeria don make meaningful progress over the years. More people now know their Human Immunodeficiency Virus status, most people diagnosed dey receive antiretroviral treatment, and many patients on treatment achieve viral suppression. Government and partners also dey expand prevention programmes, including prevention of mother-to-child transmission, wider testing services and awareness campaigns.

Despite those improvements, experts still warn say stigma, late testing, funding challenges and poor awareness continue to fuel new infections. International health bodies have repeatedly stressed that if prevention efforts slow down, new Human Immunodeficiency Virus infections could rise again. That na why health authorities dey encourage Nigerians to test regularly, practice safe behaviour and support people living with HIV instead of discriminating against them.
