Gbajabiamila to Tinubu: “Sir, Your Trust Is Still Safely in My Hands!”

Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, Femi Gbajabiamila, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the President, saying he has never betrayed the confidence Tinubu placed in him despite facing scrutiny and allegations in recent months.

Gbajabiamila made the statement on Saturday, September 26, 2026, during his 2026 Mega Empowerment Programme at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos. He said the controversy surrounding the purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council had subjected him to an unexpected period of personal and public scrutiny.

ALLEGATIONS TESTED ME, SAYS CHIEF OF STAFF

Reflecting on the controversy, Gbajabiamila said the past few months had tested him in ways he did not anticipate. He alleged that stories had been written against him, accusations had been made and his integrity had been questioned.

He maintained that investigations into the matter had cleared him of wrongdoing. According to reports, Gbajabiamila had appeared before the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission in July as part of investigations into the purported organisation. He has also said that other investigations, including one by the House of Representatives, did not establish wrongdoing on his part.

The controversy followed allegations surrounding a purported government agency that Gbajabiamila has denied any connection with. Earlier investigations and official statements focused on claims that individuals had allegedly used forged government documents and the names of senior officials to present the organisation as legitimate.

Gbajabiamila also spoke about his longstanding political relationship with President Tinubu, describing loyalty as an important currency in politics.

He said there had been occasions when Tinubu’s political decisions did not align with his personal wishes, but maintained that he did not question the President’s leadership or betray the trust placed in him.

“I have been with Mr. President for many years. I did not question his leadership and never betrayed his trust in me. I stayed loyal then and I remain loyal now,” he said, adding that his commitment to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda remained firm.

The Chief of Staff further said the allegations would not distract him from his responsibilities in the Presidency. He also warned people allegedly using his name to deceive or defraud members of the public that they could face legal consequences.

The remarks came as Gbajabiamila hosted an empowerment programme in Surulere, where residents reportedly received support including e-hailing electric cars, minibuses, tricycles and cash assistance for small businesses. Gbajabiamila’s comments place loyalty and confidence at the centre of his relationship with President Tinubu, while also addressing the political and public scrutiny generated by the purported agency controversy. He maintained that the investigations had vindicated him and that he remained focused on his duties and commitment to the President’s administration.
