OKOROCHA DECLARES HIMSELF IM0 APC'S UNDISPUTED BOSS, TELLS UZODIMMA NOBODY CAN TAKE HIS THRONE

The political battle for control of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State appears far from over, as former Governor Rochas Okorocha has boldly declared that he remains the party’s dominant and undisputed leader in the state, insisting that nobody can take his place, including supporters of incumbent Governor Hope Uzodimma.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Thursday, Okorocha dismissed competing claims over the ownership of the APC political structure in Imo, maintaining that he built the party from scratch and still enjoys the loyalty of its grassroots supporters. Apparently, in Imo APC, the question of who controls the party has become almost as complicated as determining who owns the remote control in a Nigerian family.

OKOROCHA SAYS HE BUILT THE PARTY AND REFUSES TO SURRENDER ITS POLITICAL CROWN

Okorocha maintained that his political influence in Imo State remains intact despite what he described as attempts by certain individuals to push him aside and erase his political achievements. He insisted that his contributions to establishing the APC in the state cannot simply be forgotten because another political camp has decided to occupy the leadership position.

According to the former governor, those claiming to control the party’s structure are merely entertaining themselves, as the authentic political foundation of the APC in Imo remains with him. He declared that he built the party with his blood and sweat and that the people still recognise him as their leader. His message was unmistakable: political leadership, in his estimation, is not something that can be transferred simply by making announcements or gathering loyalists around a government house.

Okorocha also accused Governor Uzodimma’s loyalists of attempting to hijack the party structure through propaganda. However, he maintained that he was not intimidated by competing political claims, expressing confidence that the people of Imo know who genuinely commands their support.

UZODIMMA’S CAMP FACES ANOTHER POLITICAL TEST AS 2027 APPROACHES

The disagreement is unfolding against the background of a long-running political rivalry between Okorocha and Uzodimma, which has increasingly become important to the APC’s preparations for the 2027 general elections. Both political camps have competing interests in determining the party’s direction, influence and candidate-selection process in Imo State.

Adding another dramatic chapter to the dispute, a Federal High Court in Abuja ruled on Thursday, October 29, 2026, that Okorocha, rather than Uzodimma, was the lawful winner of the APC primary for the Imo West Senatorial District. Justice Obiora Egwuatu ordered the APC to submit Okorocha’s name to INEC and directed the commission to recognise him as the party’s candidate. The judgment also restrained Uzodimma from parading himself as the party’s candidate for the senatorial election.

However, the Imo APC leadership rejected the judgment’s implications, insisting that Uzodimma remains its authentic candidate and indicating that its legal department would study the ruling before deciding on its next move. This means the political contest is far from settled, with the possibility of further legal proceedings. While Okorocha may be celebrating a significant judicial victory, Uzodimma’s camp is clearly not prepared to surrender its position without a fight.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, the battle for political relevance and control of the APC in Imo State is becoming increasingly intense. Okorocha says nobody can replace him, the governor’s loyalists maintain their position, and the latest court judgment has added another major dimension to an already complicated rivalry. Whether this political confrontation will produce reconciliation, another courtroom battle or a fresh power struggle remains to be seen. One thing is certain: Imo APC’s leadership dispute is far from over. Stay with OGM News NG for further updates as this political drama unfolds.
