Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has emerged victorious over Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing in a celebrity boxing showdown that finally moved their much-discussed rivalry from social media into the ring. The bout took place on October 1, 2026, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, as part of Balmoral Promotions’ “Chaos in the Ring” event. Phyna stopped Nkechi Blessing in the scheduled four-round contest, making history as the winner of Nigeria’s first female celebrity boxing bout.
From Online Gbas Gbos to Gloves and Punches
The fight came after weeks of public exchanges between the two entertainers, with their disagreements moving beyond ordinary social-media banter. Before the event, both women made it clear that they were taking the contest seriously, turning what started as verbal exchanges into a physical showdown that attracted considerable attention from fans.
And when the bell finally rang, there was apparently no room for typing, commenting or sending voice notes. Phyna kept her composure and eventually secured the victory, while the highly anticipated celebrity clash produced the kind of drama that had fans following every punch.
Phyna Collects Victory and Already Eyes Another Fight
Following her victory, Phyna reportedly received a ₦50 million prize and was also presented with an electric vehicle. Rather than simply enjoy the victory and disappear into celebration mode, the reality star immediately appeared ready for another challenge, calling out Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia, who was watching from ringside and accepted the challenge.
The development has now added another chapter to the growing celebrity-boxing trend in Nigeria, where entertainers are turning public rivalries and social-media confrontations into organised bouts. The same “Chaos in the Ring” card also featured Carter Efe against Speed Darlington, while a professional main event saw Ghanaian-born British boxer Seth “Freezy Macbones” Gyimah defeat Nigerian champion Godday “Zodsolo” Appah.
For Phyna, however, the night was about more than settling a celebrity rivalry: she has indicated an interest in pursuing boxing professionally, meaning the knockout could potentially be the beginning rather than the end of her boxing adventure. OGM News NG will continue watching the unfolding celebrity-boxing drama as Phyna celebrates her victory, Etinosa prepares to answer the challenge, and fans wait to see whether the next gbas gbos will once again require boxing gloves.
