The political temperature around the proposed Rainbow Coalition has risen again, with several All Progressives Congress (APC) state chapters rejecting the arrangement associated with Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike and urging him to formally join the ruling party if his support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election is genuine. The latest reactions show that the disagreement is not necessarily about Wike’s support for Tinubu, but about whether that support can operate outside the party’s political structure.

One Political Umbrella

Several state officials have argued that Wike cannot remain a Peoples Democratic Party figure while supporting Tinubu and maintaining a separate political structure that could produce candidates for other elections.
