Peter Obi Fires 2027 Warning, : “Those Who Stop Votes From Counting Must Be Counted!”

Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has issued a strong warning against electoral malpractice ahead of the 2027 general election, insisting that Nigerians’ votes must count and that those who attempt to prevent votes from being counted will face consequences at the ballot box.

Obi made the remarks on Thursday during an NDC town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he engaged with voters alongside his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso. The former Anambra State governor said Nigerians could no longer afford to remain passive during elections or allow political actors to undermine their choices.

“Our votes this time must count, and whoever doesn’t count it, we will count the person,” Obi said, in a statement that has quickly attracted attention across Nigeria’s political space.

‘Nobody Will Intimidate Us Again’

Obi said his supporters would not allow themselves to be intimidated at polling units during the 2027 election. He said leadership should not be outsourced and challenged anyone with allegations against him to make them public so that voters could properly assess the candidates seeking their support.
