Oyebamiji Accepts INEC Verdict, But APC Still Has Questions About the Numbers

According to information reaching OGM News NG, APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji has accepted the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) verdict in the Osun governorship contest, while the APC begins reviewing the figures and political lessons from the exercise. Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke has reportedly rejected claims that his re-election campaign depended on a collaboration with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), adding another twist to an already dramatic political contest.

Oyebamiji Takes the Verdict, APC Takes Out the Calculator

Oyebamiji’s acceptance of the INEC verdict marks a notable moment in a contest that had been heavily contested before voting day. INEC had entered the election under intense public scrutiny, with 2,339,233 registered voters spread across Osun’s 30 local government areas and 3,763 polling units.

For the APC, however, accepting the verdict does not appear to mean abandoning political arithmetic. The party is reviewing the results and what went right, what went wrong and, perhaps most importantly, where those missing votes decided to spend election day. The contest had been widely viewed as a major three-way battle involving Adeleke, Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salam.

Adeleke Rejects ADC Collaboration Story

Adeleke, meanwhile, has denied that his re-election campaign was built around an agreement with the ADC. The claim is particularly interesting because political alliances and realignments have been major features of the Osun contest, with former political allies moving between camps and parties attempting to build wider coalitions. Adeleke had previously denied reports of an alliance with ADC figures, insisting that he did not need such an arrangement to pursue re-election.

The political irony is difficult to miss: in Osun politics, an alleged alliance can become headline news before the politicians involved have even finished denying it. With Oyebamiji accepting the INEC verdict and the APC studying the numbers, while Adeleke continues to distance his campaign from claims of an ADC partnership, the election has once again demonstrated that Nigerian politics can produce more plot twists than a television drama.

For now, the message from the competing camps is clear: Oyebamiji has accepted the electoral verdict, the APC is reviewing the numbers, and Adeleke is rejecting the ADC collaboration narrative. OGM News NG will continue to monitor the political aftermath, the reactions from the parties and any fresh developments that could reshape the story.
