Mohammed Idris Says Legacy Highway Projects Will Reshape Nigeria’s Economy

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, has reaffirmed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Legacy Highway Projects are central to Nigeria’s economic transformation agenda. Speaking at the flag-off of the Akwanga–Jos Super Highway, he said the initiative will significantly improve trade, create jobs, and strengthen national unity across the country.

He described the projects as key pillars of the Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to drive inclusive growth and long-term prosperity through large-scale infrastructure development.

Mohammed Idris explained that the Legacy Highway Projects are aimed at modernizing Nigeria’s road network and improving connectivity between regions. He noted that efficient transportation infrastructure is essential for reducing logistics costs and supporting economic activities across agriculture, commerce, and industry.
He further emphasized that the Akwanga–Jos Super Highway represents one of several flagship projects expected to enhance mobility and stimulate regional development.

According to Mohammed Idris, the highway projects are expected to generate employment opportunities during construction and beyond, while also improving access to markets and services. He added that better road infrastructure will encourage investment and promote national integration by linking communities more effectively.
