Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie has voiced deep frustration over Nigeria’s worsening electricity situation, revealing that he spends about ₦40,000 every single day just to maintain power supply in his home. The respected film icon made the disclosure while speaking during an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT), where he highlighted the heavy financial burden unreliable electricity has placed on him.

According to the actor, the daily expenses include payments for electricity units as well as fuel for generators used to compensate for the irregular public power supply. He explained that he spends around ₦10,000 on electricity daily and an additional ₦30,000 on diesel and petrol to keep generators running. The veteran actor noted that the constant spending has become exhausting and troubling.

Edochie stressed that if someone in his position feels the pressure, the situation must be far worse for ordinary Nigerians who struggle with limited incomes. He said the persistent power crisis is a reflection of deeper systemic problems affecting the country and called attention to the need for urgent solutions to reduce the burden on citizens.

The actor lamented that such expenses are unsustainable for most Nigerians, especially during a period when the cost of living continues to rise. He noted that the country’s electricity sector urgently needs reforms that will guarantee stable and affordable power supply for citizens across the nation.
