The All Progressives Congress (APC) has intensified its electronic membership registration exercise in Benue, Ekiti and Enugu states as part of broader efforts to strengthen its grassroots presence ahead of the 2027 general elections. The party leadership in the three states has urged members, supporters and residents to participate actively in the ongoing process, which is expected to bolster internal organisation, inclusiveness and strategic political positioning.
APC Mobilises Support in Benue with Renewed Calls for Unity
APC Chairman in Benue State, Benjamin Omale, has called on party members and residents to fully engage in the ongoing e-registration exercise and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR). He made the appeal on Thursday while receiving stakeholders from the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency at the party secretariat.
Omale stressed the need for unity, early mobilisation and commitment as the APC prepares for the 2027 polls. He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to justice, equity and inclusive governance, assuring members that the APC would continue to carry citizens along in its programmes.
The delegation, led by Musa Ujor, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Hyacinth Alia, commended the governor and passed a vote of confidence on the party’s leadership. Elders and stakeholders from the constituency also praised the administration for what they described as inclusive governance, citing strategic appointments and the allocation of key ministries to the Otukpo/Ohimini axis. They pledged to mobilise full support for the governor and the party in the next election cycle.
Ekiti Leaders Push for Inclusiveness, Urge Members to Re-Enlist
In Ekiti State, APC chieftain and governorship aspirant, Kayode Ojo, emphasised the need for fairness and inclusiveness in the ongoing e-registration. He urged supporters to take part actively, particularly those whose names were allegedly removed from the register preceding last year’s primaries.
Ojo, through his spokesperson Femi Awojobi, encouraged residents from other political parties to join the APC, describing the exercise as an opportunity to broaden participation and reinforce internal democracy. He lauded President Bola Tinubu for endorsing the initiative, noting that it would help restore confidence and protect equal rights among party members.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti APC leadership echoed similar sentiments, with the State Coordinator of the registration exercise, Adesola Adedayo, explaining that the digital system would enhance documentation, strengthen structures at the grassroots and improve organisational efficiency.
Enugu Sets Two Million–Member Target as Mbah Flags Off Exercise
In Enugu State, Governor Peter Mbah announced a target of two million registered APC members as he flagged off the e-registration exercise in his ward at Owo, Nkanu East Local Government Area. Mbah, who defected from the PDP to the APC in 2025, described the process as a significant step toward ending long-standing political fragmentation in the state.
According to him, repositioning Enugu politically would ensure that the state benefits more fully from federal opportunities. He assured members that the new system would not displace existing registrants but would strengthen the party through discipline, data accuracy and inclusiveness.
Deputy National Chairman (South), Chief Emma Eneukwu, and Chairman of the APC Caretaker Committee in Enugu, Dr Ben Nwoye, noted that the nationwide e-registration would modernise the party’s database and improve transparency. Eneukwu added that requiring members to present their National Identification Number would enhance credibility and help the party determine its true voting strength.
