Atiku Strongly Encourages Ondo Voters to Proudly Support PDP's Agboola Ajayi

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has made a strong appeal to the people of Ondo State to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, in the upcoming governorship election. Addressing PDP members and supporters in a statement released by his media adviser, Paul Ibe, Atiku emphasized Ajayi’s capabilities and commitment to bettering the lives of Ondo citizens. As the PDP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku conveyed his belief that Ajayi’s leadership would be transformative for the state.

In his statement, Atiku highlighted Ajayi’s background as a dedicated politician with a strong understanding of the needs of the people. He pointed to the limitations of the current administration under incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress (APC), asserting that the PDP offers a viable alternative that prioritizes the welfare of citizens. Alongside Ajayi and Aiyedatiwa, 15 other candidates are set to contest in Saturday’s election, which has generated significant attention and anticipation across Ondo State.

Criticism of APC’s Governance in Ondo State

Atiku was vocal in his criticism of the APC’s governance, describing it as “grossly unpopular” and accusing the ruling party of sidelining the interests of the people. According to Atiku, the upcoming election represents a crucial opportunity for Ondo citizens to reject the status quo and embrace a more people-centered administration. He argued that Ondo State has suffered under APC rule, with the current leadership unable to address critical issues affecting daily life.

Emphasizing the need for change, Atiku presented Ajayi as the candidate with the experience and vision to bring about meaningful improvements. He expressed confidence that the people of Ondo would seize this opportunity to push for prosperity by voting out the APC. “The governorship election that is coming up in Ondo State this Saturday presents an opportunity for the people of Ondo State to elevate the condition of the state into increased prosperity,” he stated, underscoring the importance of electing leaders who prioritize citizens’ welfare.

Commitment to Free and Fair Elections

As part of his message, Atiku stressed the PDP’s commitment to ensuring a free and fair election process in Ondo. He issued a cautionary message to election officials, volunteers, and stakeholders, warning against any form of malpractice that could interfere with the outcome. Atiku noted that the PDP would remain vigilant and would not tolerate attempts to undermine the democratic will of the people.

This declaration came amid widespread concerns over election integrity and the need for transparency. The former Vice President pledged that PDP leaders would provide all necessary support to uphold the legitimacy of the election. “This is also a sound warning to all election management officials and volunteers that the PDP will stand firmly against any malpractice in the Ondo governorship election,” he remarked.

Atiku Appeal to Ondo Citizens for Active Participation

In closing, Atiku urged the people of Ondo State to actively participate in the election, calling on them to “troop out in large numbers” and ensure that their votes count. He commended Ondo residents for their historical commitment to truth and fairness, adding that the stakes in this election call for “eternal vigilance.”

Atiku encouraged citizens to be resolute, assuring them that a strong turnout would minimize any attempt to manipulate the results. He expressed confidence in the determination of Ondo citizens, concluding that when “the tide is high, it becomes too big to rig.” His call for action highlighted the significance of civic duty and the need for collective responsibility in shaping the future of Ondo State.
