The All Progressives Congress (APC) is amplifying its efforts in the Ondo State gubernatorial election, rallying behind their candidate, incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. Led by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, the party inaugurated its Ondo State governorship campaign council in Akure, with Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu appointed as the council’s chairman. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate President, serves as the council’s secretary, with other key members including various governors, ministers, and National Assembly representatives.
During the inauguration, Ganduje urged the people of Ondo State to continue supporting Aiyedatiwa, highlighting his commitment to progressive leadership and development across the state. Ganduje emphasized the alignment of Aiyedatiwa’s administration with the APC’s ideology, promising infrastructural growth in both urban and rural areas. He further noted that Aiyedatiwa’s governance represents a legacy of progress that should be preserved for the prosperity of Ondo State.
Sanwo-Olu Praises Aiyedatiwa’s Achievements in Office
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu lauded Aiyedatiwa’s contributions in Ondo, stating that the incumbent has simplified the council’s task by his performance over the past 305 days. Recalling his previous role as the chairman of a similar council four years ago, Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and APC leadership for their trust and opportunity to lead another campaign. Sanwo-Olu noted that Aiyedatiwa’s legacy of achievements across multiple sectors aligns well with the APC’s vision.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s successful completion of numerous development projects, which include infrastructure advancements and a focus on economic empowerment. He affirmed that the campaign would center on Aiyedatiwa’s positive impact rather than political sentiment, projecting that his record would appeal to voters. Sanwo-Olu’s confidence in Aiyedatiwa’s victory stems from the governor’s tangible work, which he described as a testament to APC’s dedication to progress.
Aiyedatiwa Outlines Key Achievements and Development Plans
Governor Aiyedatiwa addressed his administration’s initiatives over the past 10 months, underlining his focus on infrastructure, agricultural production, job creation, and security. He stated that his governance emphasizes fiscal responsibility, healthcare improvements, education access, and social welfare. According to Aiyedatiwa, these targeted interventions are meant to uplift the lives of the people of Ondo State and sustain growth in critical sectors.
Aiyedatiwa highlighted his administration’s approach to engaging with Ondo citizens, focusing on direct outreach and community interaction. He reassured voters of his commitment to a peaceful, transparent election process and emphasized that his government’s actions have been driven by integrity and accountability. The governor’s goal is to strengthen ties with the people, ensuring that the APC’s development agenda resonates with every voter, fostering trust in his leadership for the future.
APC Leaders Predict Landslide Victory for Aiyedatiwa
The APC’s leadership in Ondo State, represented by National Vice Chairman (South-West) Hon. Isaac Kekemeke and Ondo State APC Chairman Engineer Ade Adetimehin, confidently forecasted a decisive victory for Aiyedatiwa. Kekemeke claimed that Ondo State’s support for Aiyedatiwa was solid, predicting an 85% voter turnout in his favor. Adetimehin added that the popularity and acceptance of Aiyedatiwa across Ondo has significantly intimidated rival candidates.
Both leaders underscored that Aiyedatiwa’s impact and rapport with the people have positioned him as the preferred candidate, making him a formidable opponent for other parties. They reiterated that Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to Ondo’s progress aligns with the aspirations of its citizens, setting a strong foundation for an overwhelming electoral win.
However, the Ondo State Governorship election will take place on November 16, 2024, and will be a contest between the ruling party’s APC candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the PDP’s candidate, Agboola Ajayi. There is no doubt the election will be a keenly contested affair.
