Yilwatda Hails Tinubu as Nigeria’s Finest Politician, Vows to Apply Lessons in APC Leadership

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the best politician Nigeria has ever produced, saying he is privileged to be learning the art of politics and governance directly from him. Yilwatda said Tinubu’s mentorship has shaped his approach to leadership within the ruling party and strengthened his resolve to contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s political development.

He made the remarks on Saturday in Kanke Local Government Area of Plateau State during a ceremony where he was conferred with the traditional title of Kaeh-rit. The event drew party members, traditional leaders, and community representatives, highlighting Yilwatda’s growing political profile at both national and grassroots levels.

The APC chairman’s comments come amid renewed efforts by the party to consolidate its internal structures and align governance priorities with President Tinubu’s reform agenda, particularly in areas of party cohesion, economic recovery, and social development.

Tinubu’s Mentorship and Yilwatda’s Rise in APC

Speaking at the ceremony, Yilwatda said President Tinubu had adopted him as a political son and was personally mentoring him in governance and party administration. According to him, this relationship has provided practical lessons in leadership, strategy, and political resilience.

“I am learning from the best leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Yilwatda said, noting that the president’s experience and political acumen stand out in Nigeria’s democratic history. He added that his own successes within the APC are closely linked to Tinubu’s guidance and example.

Yilwatda, a former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, was appointed APC National Chairman in July following the removal of former Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The leadership change, backed by party hierarchy and President Tinubu, was presented as part of efforts to reposition the APC ahead of future electoral contests.

Food Security, Farmers’ Support, and Development Focus

Beyond political statements, Yilwatda used the occasion to underline the APC’s commitment to economic welfare at the grassroots. He announced a donation of N10 million, along with seedlings and farm inputs, to farmers in Kanke Local Government Area.

The intervention, he said, aligns with President Tinubu’s national agenda to improve food security, boost agricultural productivity, and reduce poverty. Party officials present described the donation as a practical demonstration of the APC’s promise to link politics with tangible benefits for citizens.

Local farmers and community leaders welcomed the support, expressing hope that sustained investment in agriculture would improve livelihoods and strengthen rural economies across Plateau State.

APC Unity in Plateau and Growing Traditional Recognition

Yilwatda also expressed optimism over the recent defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, to the APC, saying the development would enhance governance through better coordination between party and government structures. He stressed that the APC operates an inclusive system in which all members, regardless of when they joined, enjoy equal rights.

According to him, the alignment of national, state, and local party structures would help deliver effective governance and unity in Plateau State. “We now have a single family working together for the benefit of Plateau,” he said.

The traditional title conferred on Yilwatda in Kanke marks his second such honour in less than two weeks. Earlier, the Tiv nation in Benue State had recognised him with a traditional title in appreciation of his humanitarian efforts, underscoring his growing influence beyond partisan politics.
