Tinubu's 2027 Nomination Form Kogi Youths Raise N100 Million to Procure It

A group of youths from Kogi State has raised N100 million to purchase the presidential nomination form of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general election, describing the gesture as a strong demonstration of their confidence in his leadership and ongoing reforms.

The N100 million dummy cheque was presented in Abuja on Monday to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, by the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo. Although Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yet to formally declare his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, party leaders and supporters have continued to signal strong backing for a possible re-election bid.

Youth-Led Initiative Signals Early Political Mobilisation For Tinubu Re-election

The presentation of the cheque marks one of the earliest organised financial commitments toward the 2027 presidential race within the ruling All Progressives Congress. Speaking during the event, Yilwatda described the occasion as one of the happiest moments for the party, noting that the initiative reflected a shift in youth engagement in national politics.

According to him, the Kogi youths were motivated by performance of Tinubu administration such as improvements in economic indicators and ongoing efforts to address insecurity. He said they cited enhanced collaboration between the federal government and the Kogi State administration, particularly in deploying security forces and providing operational support to tackle local security challenges.

Yilwatda further stated that the youths highlighted federal appointments granted to Kogi indigenes, including positions in key national institutions. He emphasised that the gesture represented proactive participation rather than demands for political patronage.

APC Leadership Praises “Unprecedented” Support

The APC National Chairman noted that this was the first time, to his knowledge, that a group of young people had independently mobilised funds to purchase a presidential nomination form for president Tinubu for his re-election without first seeking direct engagement or financial assistance from the aspirant.

He stressed that the payment had already been made into the party’s account, describing it as a concrete commitment rather than a symbolic promise. According to him, the Kogi group was the second to indicate interest in purchasing the form, but the first to complete payment. Consequently, he declared that no further funds were required for the purpose.

Yilwatda also used the occasion to commend what he described as growing youth inclusion in governance, citing appointments of young Nigerians to leadership positions within both government and party structures.

Governor Ahmed Ododo, who accompanied the youths to the presentation, expressed gratitude for what he described as an era of expanded opportunities for young Nigerians under the Tinubu administration.

He stated that the President Tinubu’s leadership style had created space for youth participation in governance and decision-making. Ododo described himself as a beneficiary of that environment and commended the youths for what he termed a bold and patriotic initiative.

While President Tinubu has not officially declared his intention to seek re-election, endorsements from various organs of the APC — including the National Working Committee, National Executive Committee, zonal leaders and the Governors’ Forum — suggest increasing momentum within the party ahead of 2027.

The N100 million contribution by Kogi youths represents an early and symbolic milestone in the evolving political landscape toward the 2027 general election. Whether it signals the beginning of a broader youth-driven mobilisation across the country remains to be seen, but it underscores growing political engagement among young party supporters.
