Alembik, who gained notoriety for using a racial slur against former President Barack Obama, was involved in a murder-suicide attempt that went terribly wrong.

The Fatal Encounter

The ill-fated incident unfolded on Monday, October 9, outside a BurgerFi restaurant, around 8 p.m. Alembik, 72, was seen standing in the parking lot, where he shot his wife, psychologist Dawn Polen.

However, his desperate plan took an unexpected turn when he turned the gun on himself before making sure the first part of his sinister plot succeeded.

Desperate Act Leaves One Dead, One Critical

As a result of the tragic incident, Steve Alembik lost his life, while his wife Dawn Polen clung to life in critical condition. Police reports from Palm Beach County have revealed that first responders provided immediate medical attention to Polen at the scene before transporting her to Delray Medical Center, where she underwent emergency surgery.

Alembik’s notoriety stemmed from a hateful tweet he posted, referring to former President Barack Obama as a “f******* Muslim n*****.” This incendiary comment on the social media platform twitter.com now known as X, gained him considerable attention, particularly during a time when Ron DeSantis was seeking the governor’s office, replacing Rick Scott, who was aiming for a Senate seat. Both DeSantis and Scott had received financial contributions from Alembik, raising questions about the company he kept within the political landscape.
