Stan Nze Explains Why He Can Never Risk His Life for Dangerous Nollywood Stunts

Nollywood actor Stan Nze has explained why he draws a clear line when it comes to performing dangerous movie stunts. According to him, while professionalism is important, the safety of an actor should always come first. He stressed that no role or script is worth jeopardizing one’s life for, especially in an industry where proper safety structures are not always guaranteed.

The actor, known for his lead role in the award-winning movie Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story, revealed that he prioritizes personal health and longevity in his career choices. He argued that actors are often pressured to take risks in the name of creativity, but he believes that such risks should be carefully calculated and supported with the right stunt coordinators and equipment.

Nollywood and the Growing Demands of Action Roles

In recent years, Nollywood has seen an increase in high-intensity action films, leading to higher expectations from actors. With movie producers aiming to match international standards, there has been more pressure on performers to engage in physical combat scenes, car chases, and dangerous falls without adequate preparation.

Stan Nze pointed out that many Nigerian productions do not yet have the advanced safety measures seen in Hollywood or Bollywood. While he acknowledged Nollywood’s progress, he emphasized that it would be unwise for any actor to perform life-threatening stunts without proper insurance, rehearsals, and medical supervision.

The Balance Between Authenticity and Safety

One of the key issues Stan highlighted is the balance between making movies look real and protecting the lives of actors. He noted that while audiences love authenticity in action sequences, most do not realize the risks involved behind the scenes. For him, the job of an actor is to interpret a role effectively, not to gamble with personal well-being.

He further explained that there are professional stunt doubles whose sole responsibility is to take on such risks. According to Stan, using trained stunt performers does not reduce the quality of a film but instead enhances professionalism while ensuring that actors remain safe to continue delivering great performances in the long run.

Personal Experience Shaped His Decision

Stan Nze revealed that his stance comes from past experiences where he witnessed co-actors sustain injuries during filming. Some of these incidents, he said, were avoidable if production houses had invested in better safety procedures or made use of trained stunt experts. These realities have shaped his cautious approach to action roles.

He mentioned that as much as he is passionate about his craft, he has a family and a future to protect. For Stan Nze, a single reckless decision on set could alter the course of his life forever. He insists that wisdom must guide ambition in the entertainment industry.

Industry Call for Better Safety Standards

The actor also used the opportunity to call on Nollywood producers to take film safety more seriously. He believes that the Nigerian movie industry has reached a level where international safety standards must be adopted if it wants to compete globally. This includes providing actors with health insurance, hiring certified stunt coordinators, and ensuring that risky scenes are executed under professional supervision.

Stan Nze stressed that the responsibility does not lie with actors alone but with the entire production ecosystem. He urged directors and producers to value human lives above cost-cutting measures, noting that professionalism in safety is as important as cinematography and storytelling.

Stan Nze’s Message to Fellow Actors and Fans

In closing, Stan Nze advised his fellow actors not to feel pressured into endangering themselves for the sake of entertainment. He encouraged them to speak up whenever they feel unsafe and to insist on the use of doubles or protective measures during production. For him, an actor’s life is far more valuable than a single movie scene.

To his fans, he reassured them that while he may not perform risky stunts personally, they can always expect dedication, creativity, and excellence in his work. He emphasized that true talent lies in interpretation, expression, and emotional connection—not necessarily in jumping from rooftops or engaging in reckless physical acts.
