Solomon Dalung Drops Political Bombshell: Even If Tinubu Appoints Seyi INEC Boss, APC Will Still Lose 2027

Solomon Dalung, former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has reignited the political conversation around Nigeria’s 2027 general elections with an explosive claim: no amount of strategic appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, including naming his son Seyi Tinubu as INEC chairman or his wife as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), can prevent the APC from electoral defeat. Speaking during a fiery interview in Jos, Dalung emphasized that the Nigerian people are “too politically aware” to be manipulated by “dynastic puppeteering.”

According to Dalung, the political environment in Nigeria has reached a point where legitimacy must be earned, not engineered. He accused the ruling party of building its power base on “executive arrogance and judicial compromise,” adding that “even if Tinubu installs his household into every arm of government, the collective will of the people will drown them in 2027.”

APC’s Credibility Crisis and the Power of Public Discontent

Solomon Dalung went further to dissect the growing discontent among Nigerians under the APC-led administration. He described the Tinubu government as “disconnected from reality,” and warned that the ruling party is “dancing on the edge of a political volcano.” According to him, the crushing cost of living, rising insecurity, and elite entitlement are brewing a rebellion that no election rigging can suppress.

The former minister challenged the APC to look inward and accept the fact that “Nigerians are not fools.” He said that the party’s failure to address grassroots issues like food inflation, youth unemployment, and systemic corruption has alienated even its loyal base. “This is not 2015. The social contract has been broken, and the people are prepared to reclaim it,” Dalung said pointedly.

“INEC Is Not a Family Business” – Dalung Warns of Institutional Capture

Dalung sharply criticized any notion of politicizing Nigeria’s democratic institutions for personal gain, warning that placing family members in strategic electoral or judicial positions will backfire. “INEC is not a family business. The CJN is not a title for the First Lady,” he stated with biting sarcasm. He said that such moves will not only undermine democracy but provoke mass resistance.

He insisted that Nigeria’s democratic institutions are already fragile and must not be further compromised by “nepotistic experiments.” According to Dalung, the international community is watching, and any overt attempt to hijack these offices would isolate Nigeria diplomatically and provoke internal democratic resistance across the states.

Dalung Slams Political Elitism, Calls for Mass Reawakening

The former minister condemned what he called the growing “political elitism” within the Tinubu administration, where governance is becoming a closed-door affair dominated by family members, long-time loyalists, and economic allies. He lamented the shrinking civic space and accused the ruling class of waging “an undeclared war against democracy.”

Dalung called on Nigerians to reject political imposition in 2027 and reassert their electoral sovereignty. “This is a call to civic arms. The elite are consolidating power, but the people must consolidate purpose. Nigeria must never become a monarchy disguised as a democracy,” he warned.

2027 Election Will Be a Referendum, Not Just a Vote

According to Dalung, the upcoming 2027 general elections will serve as a national referendum on the Tinubu administration and its legacy. He described the mood of the country as “ripe for reckoning,” stating that no amount of money, propaganda, or influence can stop what he termed an “inevitable collapse of political arrogance.”

He forecasted a voter revolution, predicting that citizens will defy every suppressive measure. “They can manipulate data, twist laws, or arrest dissenters. But come 2027, Nigerians will cast votes like bullets—aimed at tyranny,” Dalung thundered.

Dalung to Opposition Parties: Unite or Perish

Dalung also issued a blunt message to Nigeria’s fragmented opposition, urging them to form a united front or risk letting the APC return by default. He argued that divided efforts and ego battles among opposition leaders would only empower the ruling party to cling to power despite widespread disapproval.

He called for an urgent summit of opposition voices, activists, labor unions, and civil society groups. “This is not just about politics; it’s about the future of our children. If we don’t unite now, we will be enslaved by the very people we failed to defeat together,” Dalung warned passionately.
