Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu, the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has issued a scathing rebuke to several members of a self-styled coalition within the party, accusing them of operating under false pretenses. Speaking during a media briefing in Abuja, he insisted that many individuals claiming to be loyal to the ADC have no understanding of the party’s ideological foundation, branding them as “migrants with no political compass.”
Kachikwu emphasized that the African Democratic Congress is not a dumping ground for disgruntled politicians or opportunistic coalition seekers. He declared unequivocally, “If you’re part of this so-called coalition and do not align with our values, you are in the wrong ADC.” His comments have sparked intense debate among party stakeholders and political analysts nationwide.
“We Have One ADC, Not Two” – Party Unity Threatened
Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu reiterated that the party cannot afford dual structures or parallel leaderships orchestrated by external alliances or internal dissenters. “Let it be clear,” he declared, “there is only one ADC, and it is the one rooted in national transformation, not tribal arrangements or political prostitution.”
He warned that any group or faction operating under the ADC banner without official recognition from the National Executive Committee would be treated as infiltrators. This firm stance has created ripples across the party’s state chapters, where some coalition-aligned members have begun forming secret alliances with rival parties ahead of upcoming elections.
Coalition Games: Kachikwu Points to External Interference
Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu accused certain coalition members of being political mercenaries planted by rival political parties to destabilize the ADC from within. He alleged that these individuals are “hiding behind coalition slogans to execute an agenda that does not reflect ADC’s mission of integrity and innovation in governance.”
According to him, some members have never contributed to the party’s development or electoral success yet seek to control key decisions through manipulation and backdoor politicking. “This is sabotage disguised as unity,” Kachikwu said, urging genuine party members to rise against external infiltration disguised as internal coalition.
Internal Disciplinary Mechanisms Set to Activate
In what he described as a ‘necessary cleansing’, Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu disclosed that the party would begin invoking its internal disciplinary procedures against coalition elements attempting to factionalize the ADC. He maintained that no one, regardless of their prior affiliations or perceived influence, would be spared if found guilty of anti-party conduct.
The ADC National Working Committee has reportedly set up a special review panel to examine activities of the so-called coalition members, including unauthorized press statements, parallel congresses, and meetings held without party approval. Sanctions may include suspension, expulsion, or legal action depending on the gravity of offenses.
Kachikwu to Political Tourists: “Go Back Where You Came From”
With barely disguised contempt, Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu referred to some coalition members as “political tourists” whose only interest lies in using the ADC logo to gain temporary relevance. “This is not your safe house or halfway stop,” he said. “Return to your original political homes if you cannot embrace our vision for national rebirth.”
He lamented that many coalition players only become visible during election seasons and disappear once the ballots are counted. He urged the media and the public to recognize the distinction between authentic ADC members and opportunists who only wear the party’s badge for convenience.
National Convention Plans Intensify Amid Controversy
Despite the internal friction, Ralphs Okey Nwosu Kachikwu affirmed that the ADC will proceed with its upcoming national convention, with stricter participation criteria to weed out illegitimate actors. “Only those with verifiable loyalty and performance records will be allowed to participate,” he stated.
Preparations are underway for what is expected to be a defining moment in the party’s history. Sources close to the secretariat revealed that biometric validation, loyalty checks, and grassroots audits are being rolled out to ensure that only credible delegates represent the party’s future vision.
