Rabiu Kwankwaso Declares APC Has Lost Focus and Will Be Ousted in 2027

The national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost focus and will be voted out in the 2027 general election. Speaking at his Miller Road residence on Thursday, Kwankwaso welcomed over 963 APC members from the Dala Local Government Area of Kano into the NNPP. The NNPP presidential candidate in the 2023 election expressed his confidence in the party’s ability to bring about meaningful change and urged Nigerians to join hands with the NNPP to achieve this goal.

Rabiu Kwankwaso’s remarks came during a formal defection event, where key APC figures, led by the party chairman of Dala, officially joined the NNPP. Rabiu Kwankwaso emphasized that the APC’s poor leadership, particularly at the federal level, has plunged Nigerians into severe hardship. He noted that unemployment, inflation, and the removal of fuel subsidies have worsened living conditions, and that Nigerians are now ready for a change in leadership. He praised the NNPP-led Kano State government under Governor Abba Yusuf for its “uncommon achievements” in infrastructure and human development, serving as an example of the transformative potential of NNPP governance.

NNPP Poised for 2027 Presidential Bid, Says Rabiu Kwankwaso

Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, who has announced his intention to run for the presidency again in 2027, expressed optimism about the NNPP’s future and its role in reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape. He urged Nigerians to rethink their political allegiances and embrace the NNPP as a platform for real change. The Kwankwasiyya movement leader stated that the NNPP has the tools and vision to bring about the change Nigerians have long been yearning for.

While criticizing the current APC-led federal government for its failures, Kwankwaso pointed to the progress in Kano State under the NNPP as evidence of what the party can achieve nationally. He assured the public that the NNPP’s governance style would provide solutions to unemployment and economic instability caused by APC’s policies, including the controversial removal of fuel subsidies. Rabiu Kwankwaso’s appeal resonated particularly with the northern region of Nigeria, where he called on citizens to take control of their future by supporting the NNPP’s mission for a better Nigeria.

Mass Defection of APC Members to NNPP Signals Shifting Political Tides

The defection of the entire leadership structure of the APC in Dala Local Government to the NNPP is seen as a significant political development. Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Alhaji Sabiu Maialawayyo, former APC chairman of Dala, expressed gratitude to Rabiu Kwankwaso for welcoming them into the NNPP. Maialawayyo described Kwankwaso as a visionary leader and pledged that the defectors would work tirelessly to advance the NNPP’s objectives.

Maialawayyo also expressed optimism about Rabiu Kwankwaso’s political future, predicting that he would become “the landlord in Aso Rock come 2027.” This mass defection is seen as a signal that political allegiances are shifting in Kano State and across northern Nigeria. Kwankwaso expressed his gratitude to the people of Kano, particularly the youth and women, for their continued support of the NNPP and their commitment to the Kwankwasiyya movement. With key figures from the APC joining their ranks, the NNPP is poised to become a major force in Nigerian politics ahead of the 2027 elections.

Nigerians Will Seek Change in 2027 Despite Challenges

Despite the APC’s control of key institutions like the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Rabiu Kwankwaso expressed confidence that Nigerians will reject the party in the next election cycle. He acknowledged that the APC might attempt to retain power through various means, but insisted that the collective will of the people will prevail. “It is now clear that regardless of their beliefs and plans to use the security agents and INEC in the forthcoming elections, it will not be possible as Nigerians are tired and will surely struggle for change,” Kwankwaso stated.

His comments reflect a broader desire for political reform among Nigerians, particularly as the country grapples with unprecedented socio-economic challenges. With 2027 still years away, the former governor’s remarks signal the beginning of what could be a long political battle to unseat the APC, a party that has held sway over Nigeria’s central government since 2015.Rabiu Kwankwaso and his NNPP are positioning themselves as the alternative that can bring real change to a weary populace.
