Opposition Parties’ Costly Appeal

In a courtroom comedy that had everyone doubled over with laughter, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) stumbled their way into an 83-million-naira fine after losing their appeal at the Presidential Election Petition Court. It’s almost like they were auditioning for a slapstick comedy routine!

The judges in the Presidential Election Petition Court couldn’t help but shake their heads at what they described as a case “lacking in merit.” In fact, they found the whole charade so delusional that they decided to uphold President Bola Tinubu’s victory with a hearty round of applause.

The ‘Spin the Wheel of Fines’ Drama: APM, PDP, and LP’s Pricey Court Show

The real showstopper, though, was the fines. The five-man panel, led by Justice Haruna Tsamani, must have had a blast dishing out these whopping penalties. It was like a game of “Spin the Wheel of Fines,” and the PDP, LP, and APM were the lucky contestants.

APM, with their quirky antics, earned themselves a fine of N13,675,890.00, while the PDP’s over-the-top performance scored them a bill of N23,391,001.45. But the grand prize, the crown jewel of this comedy of errors, went to the LP, who walked away with the heftiest fine of N47,910,431.87. It’s almost like they were competing for the title of “Most Embarrassing Fines in Politics.”

Presidential Election Petition Court Judges Deliver the Final Punchline

And the judges? Well, they couldn’t resist a final punchline. They ordered the parties to pay up within 48 hours, as if they were daring them to pull off a last-minute magic trick. It’s safe to say that the Court of Appeal is now the hottest club in town, with a consolidated account domiciled at the Central Bank of Nigeria that’s just waiting for these political pranksters to settle their bill.
