Recently which was widely reported by OGM News, Gunmen wreaked havoc in a tragic series of attacks that struck Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs in Plateau State over the Christmas weekend, leaving devastation in their wake. With the massacre occurring during the festive season’s preparations, the assailants launched assaults on Saturday, which tragically extended into Sunday, plunging the communities into turmoil.
The onslaught was marked by the ruthless targeting of residences, particularly in Mushu village, where homes were razed, and properties were looted. According to reports from the police spokesperson, Alfred Alabo, the violence spread across 15 communities, resulting in the loss of 96 lives, the destruction of 221 houses, eight vehicles, and 27 motorcycles. The sheer scale of the attack showcases the extent of the brutality faced by the residents.
The assault’s timeline is chilling, with Alabo recounting that the coordinated attacks commenced around 10 p.m. on December 24th, simultaneously striking these multiple villages. The aftermath in Bokkos reveals the grim toll, with 12 villages suffering the brunt of the violence, witnessing the loss of more than 79 lives and the incineration of over 200 homes.
