Nuhu Abdullahi, the coordinator of the Public Enlightenment Movement, has visited the construction site of the Kano to Kaduna railway line to evaluate the level of progress achieved so far. He explained that the visit was part of his organization’s ongoing effort to monitor key infrastructure projects and keep the public informed about developments of national importance.
Nuhu Abdullahi said his team observed significant activity at the site, including the deployment of heavy machinery and workers engaged in various stages of construction. He emphasized that projects of this magnitude require constant supervision and transparency in order to ensure they are delivered on schedule and according to standard.
Nuhu Abdullahi noted that the railway line remains a crucial project for northern Nigeria, as it will enhance trade, facilitate easier movement of people, and boost regional economic growth once completed.
Nuhu Abdullahi Highlights Improvement Under Tinubu’s Administration
Nuhu Abdullahi pointed out that the completion level of the project has advanced notably under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He revealed that while the railway line was only at 15 percent completion under the previous government, it has now reached 53 percent, reflecting what he described as improved commitment and execution.
Nuhu Abdullahi stressed that such progress demonstrates the importance of continuity in governance, arguing that projects must not be abandoned simply because leadership has changed. He added that infrastructure initiatives such as this are vital to Nigeria’s long-term development goals and should be shielded from political disruptions.
Abdullahi commended the federal government for prioritizing the railway project, noting that it represents one of the major interventions that could transform economic opportunities across northern states and beyond.
Nuhu Abdullahi Calls for Sustained Commitment and Transparency
Nuhu Abdullahi urged the contractors handling the railway line to maintain the pace of work and ensure that the project meets international standards. He argued that Nigeria has in the past suffered from delays and substandard execution in infrastructure delivery, but insisted that this railway line should not follow that path.
Abdullahi called on citizens to continue to monitor government projects and hold both leaders and contractors accountable for timelines, quality, and cost. He explained that public participation in oversight helps to reduce corruption, encourage transparency, and ensure value for money in public spending.
Abdullahi concluded by expressing optimism that if the current momentum is sustained, the Kano to Kaduna railway line could be completed within record time, bringing long-awaited relief to commuters and contributing to Nigeria’s economic revival.
