In a successful and coordinated effort, personnel from the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Service (DSS) thwarted a planned terrorist attack in Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
The joint operation, carried out in the early hours of Friday, November 3, 2023, uncovered the plot and led to the apprehension of two suspected terrorists.
Arsenal of Weapons Seized by the Nigerian Army and DSS
During the operation, the security forces made a significant discovery. According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu, a cache of weapons and explosives was recovered from the terrorists.
The seized items included five AK-47 rifles, five AK-47 rifle magazines, one rocket-propelled gun (RPG), five RPG bombs, six hand grenades, five pairs of desert camouflage uniforms, 10 pairs of magazine pouches, and various improvised explosive device (IED) materials.
