The match is scheduled for Friday, October 13, 2023, and will be held in Portimao, Portugal.

The Nigeria Football Federation officially announced this friendly in a statement released on Wednesday through Opitan Global Media (OGM) This friendly encounter comes just a month before the Nigeria Super Eagles, three-time African champions, kick off their quest for a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals with a home game against Lesotho’s Crocodiles.

Nigeria Super Eagles to Take on Zimbabwe’s Warriors in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

Within the same FIFA window in November, the Nigeria Super Eagles will play their second qualification match, this time away against Zimbabwe’s Warriors. Saudi Arabia’s Green Falcons will also be in action at the same venue, facing Mali’s Eagles four days later.

Memorable Past Encounters and Upcoming Challenges

Notably, Saudi Arabia and Nigeria have a history of encounters at the senior level, with one of the most memorable clashes dating back to the opening match of the 1989 FIFA U20 World Cup (then known as FIFA World Youth Championship). In that match, Nigeria secured a thrilling comeback victory over the host nation, Saudi Arabia, with second-half goals from Christopher Ohenhen and Mutiu Adepoju, resulting in a 2-1 win in Riyadh.
