Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has opened up about the dark and painful moments of v+olence she endured during her marriage, revealing shocking details of the abuse she faced. Speaking on Real Life with Aunty Ayo podcast, the actress said she no longer believes that marriage should be treated as a “do or d+e” situation.

According to Nwosu, many people remain trapped in toxic relationships for fear of public judgment and societal expectations. “People stay in marriages because of what others will say,” she explained. “They post pictures online pretending all is well, but behind those smiles, many are fighting for their lives.”

She revealed that her husband became enraged even after she tried to avoid confrontation. “He asked me a question, and I said, ‘Tunde, please, today is not the day for quarrel,’” she recalled. “I went into the kitchen to boil water, and he just broke the kitchen door.”

The actress said the situation escalated so badly that she sustained injuries, including a strand of hair pulled so hard it drew bl++d. In self-defense, Nwosu said she armed herself with a pestle and struck the door, narrowly missing her attacker. “I was ready to k+ll him that day. I didn’t care about going to jail. I just wanted to save my life,” she revealed emotionally.

According to her, the incident left her physically hurt and emotionally scarred. “I was shaking, crying, and my neighbors saw me naked. That’s when I knew I couldn’t continue living that way,” she said.

In her closing message, Ngozi Nwosu urged women in abusive relationships to find the strength to leave before it’s too late. The actress said she has found peace and healing since leaving the marriage and hopes her story will help other women recognize the importance of self-worth. “God didn’t create anyone to live in fear. Marriage should bring joy, not tears,” she added.
