NEPA Bill: Masquerades Storm Street for Omu-Aran Protest Over Wicked NEPA Bill – “Bring Us Back to Band C

NEPA Bill: E shock everybody for Omu-Aran, Kwara State, as two full-grown masquerades lead youths for street protest wey scatter everywhere. The wahala start when IBEDC (the NEPA pipu for that side) move the community from Band C to Band A, without even say “make una ready.”

For Bareke Roundabout, the scene be like Nollywood film – placards everywhere: “Omu-Aran says NO to Band A,” “Bring us back to Band C,” and “We no go gree for NEPA stress!” The masquerades no just follow waka, dem lead the charge like spiritual commandos, dey shake body as if dem dey pursue high tariff spirits.

Pipu wey gather talk say since March, dem light bill rise like bread wey get too much yeast. The community dey vex say NEPA no consult dem, no town hall meeting, dem just wake up one morning see dem don jump from Band C straight to Band A like say na promo.

NEPA Bill: Band A Tariff, Band C Light – Wahala Dey!

The new tariff wey government approve from April 3, 2024, talk say Band A go dey enjoy at least 20 hours light every day, and dem go pay N209 per kilowatt-hour. But Omu-Aran pipu talk say na lie – “Which 20 hours? We dey manage 10 hours sef!”

Meanwhile, Band B and C still dey pay lesser – N63 per kilowatt-hour for like 12–16 hours of light. So, Omu-Aran youths dey ask big question: “Why we go dey pay like rich man when we no dey enjoy better light?”

Dem say the whole thing be scam and na serious pressure for residents wey dey already hustle to survive. One protester shout say, “NEPA dey chop our pocket, and dem no dey even give us light to fry dodo!” The tension dey high as pipu dey vex say the reclassification no just make sense.

The viral video of the masquerades leading the protest don scatter internet. Social media users dey hail the bold move – one commenter even write: “When masquerade enter protest, know say NEPA don offend ancestors!”

Many Nigerians online relate with the matter. Some dey suggest say other towns go soon borrow leaf and send their Egungun go lead protest too. Another commenter write: “Since NEPA no dey hear word, make spirit join body.”

As the hashtags #MasqueradeVsNEPA, #BringUsBackToBandC, and #ElectricityPalava trend online, Nigerians dey ask big question: When NEPA go stop to do anyhow? Until then, Omu-Aran pipu dey wait for response – and maybe light, if dem lucky.
