NAFDAC Launches Urgent Investigation into Pastor Jeremiah's Miracle Products Amid Public Health Concerns

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) is investigating the sale and distribution of “miracle” water and soap linked to Pastor Jeremiah of Christ Mercy Land Delivery Ministries. According to NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the investigation was initiated following public concern and allegations that the ministry has been falsely using the agency’s name to validate its products, leading to widespread misinformation among Nigerians.

The products in question—Miracle Water and Miracle Soap—are advertised with claims of divine healing powers but have not been registered with NAFDAC. The agency has issued a formal warning to the public, advising them to be cautious of such unfounded claims and not to be misled by the alleged endorsement of the agency’s name.

NAFDAC Warns Public of Bogus Claims, Unregistered Products Sold to Unsuspecting Public

NAFDAC has raised the alarm over the distribution of Christ Mercy Land’s miracle products, which include Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, and Father Smelled Perfume. These items are being sold with claims of supernatural healing, targeting vulnerable populations seeking quick solutions to medical problems. According to NAFDAC, none of these products have undergone the agency’s stringent vetting process to ensure their safety and effectiveness.

The agency stressed that products with such exaggerated claims not only violate NAFDAC regulations but also pose a potential public health risk. Nigerians are urged to exercise caution and avoid products that have not been properly vetted, registered, or approved by relevant authorities.

Miracle Water and Soap Under Scrutiny, Claims of Healing and Miracles

The ministry’s Miracle Water and Miracle Soap are now facing increased scrutiny, especially due to their bold claims of miraculous healing. Among the more dubious assertions is the claim that the soap can heal barrenness, with promises that women using it will bear twins. NAFDAC has responded by calling these claims fraudulent, cautioning the public not to place their trust in products that have no scientific validation or regulatory approval.

By launching a full-scale investigation, NAFDAC aims to not only curtail the sale of these products but also educate the public on the dangers of relying on unverified substances for health purposes. The agency’s mandate is to prevent false hope from leading to adverse health outcomes.

NAFDAC’s Role in Protecting Public Health, Ensuring Safety and Efficacy of Products

NAFDAC’s mission is to safeguard the health of Nigerians by ensuring that all consumables, including drugs, cosmetics, and food products, meet approved safety standards. The ongoing investigation into Pastor Jeremiah’s miracle water and soap is part of the agency’s broader mandate to shield the public from harm posed by unauthorized and potentially dangerous products.

The agency has reiterated its commitment to maintaining rigorous safety checks. By conducting this probe, NAFDAC underscores the importance of preventing the distribution of unregistered items that make unwarranted health claims, which can ultimately put consumers at risk.

Public Urged to Verify Authenticity of Products, Beware of False Claims

NAFDAC has urged the public to be vigilant in verifying the authenticity of products before purchasing, particularly those promising healing and miraculous outcomes. The agency’s advisory encourages Nigerians to avoid falling victim to exploitative tactics, especially those tied to religious or spiritual sentiments, by checking the registration status of products via the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control website or hotline.

Consumers are reminded that unregistered products may not only be ineffective but could also be harmful. Verifying authenticity ensures public safety and protects individuals from unnecessary health risks, particularly when such products are intended for medical use or ingestion.

Beyond the health risks, the misuse of NAFDAC’s name carries legal implications. NAFDAC has vowed to take decisive legal action against any individual or organization found guilty of using its name without authorization. This is part of the agency’s effort to uphold its reputation and prevent the spread of false information that may lead to public harm.

National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control also warned that perpetrators of such offenses could face severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and product seizures. This move is aimed at setting a strong precedent and discouraging other unscrupulous entities from exploiting the agency’s name for profit.
