Mr Ibu Veteran Nollywood Actor Undergoes Amputation to Save His Life

Veteran Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has undergone a life-saving amputation procedure. The actor’s family recently released a statement detailing his health struggles, revealing that he had already undergone seven surgeries in a desperate bid to save his life. Mr Ibu’s health issues came to the public’s attention in October, and it was clear that he needed financial assistance to cover the mounting medical bills.

A Desperate Fight for Recovery

The statement, which was shared on the actor’s Instagram page, expressed the family’s gratitude for the support and assistance they have received from Nigerians. It acknowledged the outpouring of love and financial help but emphasized that the situation was dire. The statement read, “Good afternoon, Nigerians. We want to appreciate everyone who has come through for our dad; saying we are grateful is an understatement, and only the good Lord can thank you all enough for every help you’ve rendered.”

The family went on to reveal the harrowing reality of Mr Ibu’s health journey. As of noon on the day the statement was released, the actor had already undergone seven surgeries, and the most drastic measure had to be taken – the amputation of one of his legs. This decision was not made lightly; it was a last-resort effort to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery.
