Mike Pompeo

Mike Pompeo the former US Secretary of State shared his views on the ongoing conflict in the Israel-Gaza territory. This occurred in his most recent appearance being interviewed by the Fox News Sunday’s host, Shannon Bream. Pompeo, who served under the Trump administration, began by addressing the long-standing tension between Iran and Israel. He emphasized the historic efforts by Iran to “wipe Israel off the face of the earth” and condemned what he described as “barbaric attacks” in the region.

Mike Pompeo expressed deep concern about the escalating situation, highlighting that women and children have become victims, with hostages being held by the Iranian regime’s proxy, Hamas, in Gaza. He made a controversial statement by suggesting that the United States’ financial aid to Palestine amounted to paying ransom for hostages. Pompeo argued that such policies were detrimental and would lead to more hostage-taking incidents.

Mike Pompeo Blames the Biden Administration

Pompeo didn’t shy away from placing blame on the Biden Administration for emboldening the Palestinians in the conflict. He pointed to the decision to provide $6 billion in aid to Palestine and noted that $230 million had been given on nearly the first day of the Biden Administration. Pompeo claimed that cozying up to Iran was a dangerous move for the United States, as it had created significant risks for Israel, which were now playing out in the ongoing crisis. He also highlighted the concerns of Gulf states, who were closely monitoring Iran’s actions in the region.

Pompeo criticized the Biden Administration for disrupting the diplomatic efforts that had led to the normalization of relationships between Israel and several Arab nations. He argued that this disruption posed a considerable risk not only to Israel but also to the American people.

Impact on Diplomacy and Saudi Arabia’s Role

Responding to a question from Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream regarding the National Review‘s assertion that the conflict might jeopardize years of diplomacy aimed at getting Saudi Arabia to recognize Israel officially, Pompeo acknowledged the validity of this claim. He emphasized the need to focus on the immediate crisis on the ground in Israel-Gaza, referring to it as a “massacre of innocents and civilians.” Pompeo argued that Israel should be provided with all the support it needed to deter such incidents from happening again.

Pompeo criticized the Biden Administration’s initial response to the conflict, claiming that they had issued an “indecent” statement suggesting that the Israelis should essentially cease their actions and allow the massacre to continue.
