LASIAMA: Nurturing Lagos Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth

(LASIAMA) Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency , formerly known as the Office of the Facility Management and Maintenance (OFMM), has been a pivotal force in overseeing the proper management and maintenance of all assets and infrastructure within Lagos State. Established in December 2014 under the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency operates with a core mandate to enhance functionality and quality of infrastructure while promoting a sustainable maintenance industry and culture.

LASIAMA Objectives and Core Mandate:

LASIAMA‘s primary objectives include effective preservation and maintenance of state-owned assets, establishing a uniform management framework for sustainability, and optimizing service delivery costs. The agency aims to improve health and safety in working environments, ensuring assets operate at optimal capacity. The vision is to build a state with sustainable and qualitative infrastructure supporting social and economic growth.

LASIAMA is tasked with developing a consistent approach to asset management across all government entities. This involves creating an international standard Asset Register, drawing up master plans for asset management and maintenance, and setting performance benchmarks. The agency plays a vital role as a consultant in collaboration with other government bodies for effective facility management and maintenance.

One of LASIAMA‘s crucial responsibilities is ensuring compliance with statutory provisions. The agency monitors and coordinates outsourced facility management services, implementing periodic audits of state-owned infrastructure. Through this, Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency advises on asset maintenance or disposal, promoting an efficient and accountable use of resources.

  1. Special Adviser’s Pledge:

During a recent working visit to LASIAMA, Engr. Adekunle Olayinka, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, expressed his commitment to providing leadership and support to Lagos State Infrastructure Asset Management Agency. He emphasized the importance of collaboration to achieve the agency’s statutory mandate and urged staff to enhance their performance, ensuring the delivery of quality services.

Engr. Olayinka urged professionals responsible for project monitoring to actively visit sites and ensure contractors deliver quality work.
