KWASU Lecturers Don Stage Protest Over Poor Salary and Condition of Service

Lecturers for Kwara State University (KWASU) don vex go public as dem stage protest wey shake campus. According to dem, government and school management don dey do “long throat promise” since, but no action. Dem para with placards wey read: “Lecturer no be slave!” and “Pay us our entitlement now!”

One lecturer even yarn say, “Na book we dey use build tomorrow leaders, but dem wan turn us to beggars today.” The protest scatter plenty attention for Malete campus as students gather dey look their oga dem wey suppose dey teach, now dey chant like union members for rally.

For lecturers mind, na survival mode remain — strike dey the corner if their wahala no resolve sharp sharp.

Why KWASU Lecturers Say Body Don Tire

According to the protesting lecturers, the condition of service wey dem dey endure no get head or tail. Allowance wey dem suppose don receive since don hang like bad network. Promotions dey crawl, welfare package no dey, and salary dey waka slow like molue for traffic.

Dem complain say while politicians dey enjoy convoy and big allowance, lecturers dey hustle side job just to survive. “Imagine lecturer dey run okada after class, na shame be dat,” one protester talk.

The lecturers insist say dem no fit continue to dey work under this kain pressure. Dem want better pay, improved welfare and clear promotion pathway.

Students Dey Worry, Management Dey Silent

The protest don raise tension for campus as students dey fear strike fit land soon. Some dey beg lecturers make dem no abandon class, others dey pray say government go answer quick. One final-year student talk say, “Abeg make dem settle this thing, I no wan write project for extra year.”

For now, school management never talk plenty. Dem only drop small statement say negotiation dey ongoing. But lecturers no dey buy that story again, dem talk say na same promise government don dey serve since 2022.

If government no gree act fast, KWASU fit soon turn ghost campus wey only goats and security dey attend lecture. And for lecturers, na strike be the last card for table.
