Kwara State government don announce say dem don stop all PTA and other levies wey primary school pupils dey pay. The announcement come from the Commissioner for Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, wey talk say the move na to make sure every pikin fit go school without stress.
She yarn say Kwara government don observe say many parents no dey fit pay the PTA levy because of the current economic situation. So to help families and encourage more children to attend school, dem don decide to abolish all forms of levies for public primary schools.
According to her, “Education suppose free for every child, no be by pocket strength. Kwara no go allow any child miss school because of small levy again.”
Parents and Pupils Jubilate for the Announcement
As the news break, many parents for different local governments begin jubilate, say at last government don hear their cry. Some parents wey talk with reporters say the move go really help dem, especially for rural areas where pikin plenty but money scarce.
One mama for Ilorin talk say, “Before, we dey struggle to pay PTA levy for three children, but now we fit breathe small. Na good thing government don do.”
Teachers too happy say the decision go increase enrollment and make plenty children wey drop out because of levy come back to school again.
Kwara Government Warn Schools Wey Go Try Collect Levy Again
Meanwhile, Kwara government don warn school heads make dem no collect any form of PTA money or hidden levy again. Dem say any teacher or headmaster wey try am go face serious punishment.
The Commissioner add say the state go monitor all schools to make sure compliance dey 100%. She talk say this na part of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq commitment to promote free and quality education across the state.
Government also encourage parents make dem send their children go school without fear or delay, because education remain the best investment for the future.
