KWAM 1 Urges Ogun Governor to Scrap Awujale Nomination Process, Warns of Legal Crisis

Fuji music icon Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, has renewed his call on Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, to halt the ongoing second nomination process for the next Awujale of Ijebu. According to the renowned musician, the continuation of the process poses a serious risk to peace and unity within Ijebuland, especially considering the sensitivity surrounding the revered traditional stool.

KWAM 1 expressed concern that the nomination exercise, if not immediately discontinued, could open the door to prolonged legal battles among interested royal families. He warned that such disputes may drag on for years, thereby stalling the installation of a new monarch and undermining the cultural stability of the Ijebu people.

He urged the state government to adopt a more transparent and historically grounded approach in handling the succession matter. The Fuji star maintained that respecting established traditions and avoiding controversial processes would help preserve the dignity of the Awujale institution and prevent unnecessary tension among stakeholders.

Veteran Fuji musician KWAM 1 has cautioned the Ogun State Government against proceeding with the second phase of the Awujale nomination process, describing it as a potential trigger for endless court cases. He stressed that the matter of traditional leadership requires utmost care, as mistakes could have lasting consequences on communal harmony.

The singer noted that previous experiences in other parts of the country have shown how disputed chieftaincy processes often end up in court, sometimes lasting decades. He argued that allowing the current nomination process to continue might plunge Ijebuland into similar uncertainty and division.

KWAM 1 appealed directly to Governor Dapo Abiodun to intervene decisively by scrapping the exercise altogether. He said proactive action by the government would not only save time and resources but also reassure the people of Ijebu that their heritage and customs are being protected.

Fuji Legend KWAM 1 Appeals to Abiodun to Cancel Second Awujale Selection

Popular Fuji legend KWAM 1 has once again appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to cancel the second selection process for the next Awujale of Ijebu. He emphasized that the process, as currently designed, lacks the clarity needed to command widespread acceptance among traditional stakeholders.

According to KWAM 1, any ambiguity in the nomination process could easily be exploited, resulting in legal challenges from aggrieved parties. He warned that such a scenario would not only delay the emergence of a new Awujale but also weaken respect for the institution itself.

The musician called for extensive consultations with historians, traditional rulers, and royal families to ensure a seamless succession. He maintained that only a process rooted in long-standing tradition and fairness would guarantee peace and protect the legacy of one of Yorubaland’s most respected thrones.
