A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State has cautioned individuals and groups against parading themselves as leaders of the ADC. The factional chairman, Abdulrazak Abubakar, issued the warning during a press briefing held on Saturday in Birnin Kebbi, stressing that only legitimate officers are authorised to speak or act on behalf of the party in the state.
Court-Backed Suspension and Internal Dispute
Abubakar explained that the faction had observed continued attempts by suspended members, including Sufiyanu Bala and others, to present themselves as state executives of the African Democratic Congress. He noted that Alhaji Sule Iko was also suspended after allegedly presenting himself as the African Democratic Congress state chairman under the directive of the previously suspended Bala.
According to the factional leader, neither Sufiyanu Bala nor Sule Iko remains a member of the ADC, a development he said is backed by a court order. He stated that a High Court sitting in Kebbi had issued an interim injunction restraining Bala and two other individuals from parading themselves as members of the state executive committee.
Abubakar maintained that the suspension of the individuals was in line with internal disciplinary procedures and affirmed that the party’s constitution would continue to guide its actions.
Commitment to Lawful ADC Party Administration
The factional chairman reaffirmed the commitment of the party’s leadership to uphold due process, stressing that no one would be allowed to destabilise the ADC’s structure in Kebbi State. He urged ADC members and the public to disregard any claims of leadership by the suspended individuals.
Abubakar assured that the faction remains focused on strengthening the party’s internal structure and fostering unity among members. He emphasised that all ADC activities would be conducted within the confines of the law.
“We will continue to uphold the rule of law and ensure that only legitimate officers manage the affairs of the African Democratic Congress in Kebbi State,” he stated.
