Jandor Unveils Campaign Website Ahead of Lagos 2027 APC Governorship Primaries

Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has taken an early but calculated step toward the 2027 Lagos State governorship race with the unveiling of a campaign website ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries. The move, announced through a campaign flyer and social media posts, signals his intention to seek the party’s ticket and re-enter the state’s political contest under a new partisan banner.

Jandor, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), framed the launch of the website as part of broader preparations to engage party members and residents of Lagos State. His announcement has drawn attention within political circles, coming barely months after his return to the APC and amid ongoing conversations about the shape of the 2027 electoral contest in the state.

Early Signal of 2027 Ambition Within APC

The indication of Jandor’s ambition emerged through a campaign flyer uploaded on Wednesday, bearing the inscription, “Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran Jandor for Governor, Lagos State 2027.” While not a formal declaration, the message clearly places him among those positioning early for the governorship race within the ruling party in Lagos.

In a Facebook post on the same day, Jandor announced the launch of his campaign website, describing it as a digital platform designed to support his aspiration ahead of the APC primaries. He referred to the website as “the digital heartbeat” of his journey toward securing the party’s nomination.

According to him, the platform is intended to serve as an interactive civic space rather than a one-way campaign tool. He explained that it would allow Lagos residents and party members to examine proposed ideas, contribute suggestions, and engage with policy discussions aimed at shaping a more inclusive and prosperous state.

Jandor Focus on Party Leadership and Public Engagement

While acknowledging that other aspirants may also be preparing to contest within the APC, Jandor said his immediate focus remains on engaging party leadership, members, and the broader Lagos electorate. He stressed that his approach is rooted in consultation rather than confrontation within the party.

“While I acknowledge there may be other qualified aspirants within our party who are yet to personally express their ambition, my focus remains on the leadership and members of the party as well as the people of Lagos,” he stated. This position appears aimed at reassuring party stakeholders amid concerns about internal competition ahead of the primaries.

Calling for collective responsibility, Jandor urged residents to actively participate in shaping his proposed agenda. He described governance as a shared effort and invited Lagosians to visit the website to review his roadmap and contribute to discussions on policies for the state’s future development.

Political Background and Controversies

Jandor is not new to the Lagos governorship race. In the 2023 election, he contested as the PDP candidate, with Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate. He finished third in the election, behind candidates of the APC and the Labour Party.

Following the election, he resigned from the PDP and officially returned to the APC in March, citing indiscipline and widespread anti-party activities within the opposition party as reasons for his departure. His return, however, was met with criticism from some PDP leaders in Lagos.

The Deputy Chairman of the PDP in Lagos, Tai Benedict, alleged that Jandor was planted by the APC to destabilise the opposition party. Jandor has not publicly responded in detail to the allegation, choosing instead to focus on his renewed political journey within the APC and his engagement with party members and voters.
