Jandor Declares 2027 Lagos Governorship Bid, Pledges Support for Tinubu’s Re-election

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Jandor, who defected back to the APC in March, just weeks after leaving the PDP, was a major contender in the 2023 governorship race against incumbent Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He had then contested alongside Nollywood filmmaker, Funke Akindele, as his deputy governorship candidate.

Speaking during Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, Jandor said his decision to re-enter the Lagos political field was deliberate and rooted in his vision for governance. He emphasized that his political career had always been marked by bold choices, recalling how his entry into Lagos politics initially disrupted the political establishment.

Jandor Commitment to Tinubu’s Presidency

In his remarks, Jandor also pledged unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term ambition. He commended the President’s leadership style, describing it as progressive, courageous, and visionary.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven his capacity to lead this country with vision and courage. I call on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure he gets a second term in 2027 so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership,” he stated.

He dismissed speculations about other potential contenders for the Lagos governorship, including Seyi Tinubu, the President’s son, and former Governor Akinwunmi Ambode. According to him, the focus should be on building a strong run within the APC, where he believes he can secure the ticket.

Eye on 2027 and Lagos’ Future

Declaring his ambition openly, Jandor expressed confidence that his candidacy would once again galvanize support and energize Lagos politics. “As for Lagos State, I am offering myself once again to serve. I’m indeed running for the Lagos governorship race in 2027,” he said.

Jandor urged Lagos residents and Nigerians to remain hopeful about the nation’s future, noting that brighter prospects lie ahead. “Very soon, activities will begin to galvanise support from Mr President and the party to ensure that whoever picks the APC governorship ticket in Lagos will have a strong run,” he added.

Jandor concluded with optimism, stressing that Nigeria’s political landscape was entering a phase of new opportunities and stronger leadership
