Police Commissioner Appeals for Reporting of Bullet Wound Cases

The Commissioner of Police is taking this opportunity to appeal to all medical facilities, traditional healing centers, pharmacies, and all Ebonyi residents to promptly report anyone seeking medical treatment for bullet wounds to the nearest police station,” she emphasized.

IPOB, short for the Indigenous People of Biafra, is a self-determination movement in Nigeria that seeks the restoration of the defunct Republic of Biafra, which declared independence from Nigeria prior to the Nigerian Civil War (1967-1970). Since 2021, IPOB, along with other Biafran separatist groups, has been engaged in a low-intensity guerrilla conflict in southeastern Nigeria against the Nigerian government. The group, founded in 2012 by Nnamdi Kanu (currently in police custody) and Uche Mefor, continues to be a source of contention in the region.
