In response to the incident, the Imo State Police Command promptly dispatched police operatives to the scene. The Officer in Charge exercised his operational discretion by taking Comrade Ajaero into protective custody at the State Command Headquarters. The decision was made to ensure the safety of his life and prevent any harm that could result from the volatile situation. Following this, the Commissioner of Police directed that he should receive medical attention at the Police Medical Services facility in Owerri.

Comrade Ajaero has been provided with adequate security cover to proceed with his other legitimate engagements for the day, ensuring his safety and well-being.

Court Injunction

The Imo State Police Command emphasized the existence of a court injunction from the National Industrial Court of Nigeria in Owerri, dated 27th October, 2023, with Suit No. NICN/OW/41/2023. This injunction prohibited the NLC from conducting the intended protest rally in Owerri.
