In a decisive triumph, Governor Hope Uzodimma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clinched a second term in office as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday. The announcement was made by the Returning Officer, Prof Abayomi Fashina, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye Ekiti. Uzodimma’s victory was based on his substantial lead in votes, meeting all legal requirements.
Sweeping Win in All 27 Local Government Areas
Governor Uzodimma demonstrated unparalleled dominance by securing victory in all 27 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Imo State. The election showcased a clear mandate from the people as Uzodimma outpaced his rivals, Athan Achonu of the Labour Party and Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Impressive Poll Numbers
Uzodimma’s victory was underscored by a substantial margin in the vote tally. He garnered an impressive 540,308 votes, leaving his closest competitor, Anyanwu of the PDP, with 71,503 votes and Achonu of the LP trailing behind with 64,081 votes. The APC candidate’s home ground of Oru East proved to be a stronghold, where he secured a staggering 67,315 votes, overshadowing his opponents.
Hope Uzodimma Key Battlegrounds and Notable Wins
The governor’s triumph extended beyond his local government, making significant gains in other key battlegrounds. In Oguta LG, Uzodimma secured 57,310 votes, reaffirming his widespread support. Okigwe also witnessed a substantial victory for the incumbent governor with 55,585 votes.
Defeating Challengers on Home Turf
Governor Hope Uzodimma not only secured victory across the state but also triumphed in his own Ikeduru LG, where he garnered 22,356 votes, surpassing his PDP challenger Anyanwu. Additionally, the governor demonstrated his popularity in Ehime Mbano LG by securing 6,632 votes, defeating Achonu and Anyanwu.
Governor Hope Uzodimma‘s resounding victory in the Imo State governorship election reflects a widespread endorsement of his leadership. The electoral outcome not only solidifies his position within the APC but also establishes a mandate for his second term in office.
